Robert C. Hopple Sr.

Funeral services with full military honors for Mr. Robert C. Hopple, Sr. were held at 2:00p.m. Monday in the Campbell  & Ennis Funeral Home, Inc. Phoenixville, PA.

Born August 25, 1921, Mr. Hopple died March 22, 1989.

The Rev. Gordon Lewis, Pastor of Trinity Evangelical Congregational Church Royersford, officiated.

Representing the U.S. Navy were pallbearers Yeoman 2c Brown, Storekeeper 2c Reynolds, Anti-submarine Warfare Tech 2c Anhorn, Anti-submarine Warfare Tech 3c Wilson and Aviation Support Equipment 3c Cantrell.

The bugler was Sgt. Vogt.

Flag folders were Personnel man 2c Gass and Aviation Support Equipment Airman Bevebt.

In the rifle detail were Storekeeper 2c Reynolds, Anti-submarine Warfare Tech 3c Brown,  Personal man 2c Brown, Anti-submarine Warfare Tech 2c Josselyn, Aviation Store Keeper 3c Wilson, Aviation Ordnance man-Airman Young and Aviation Store Keeper 2c Barnes.

The U.S. Navy Burial Detail was from the U.S. Naval Air Station in Willow Grove.

Webmaster Notes: Robert Campbell Hopple enlisted in the U.S. Navy June 5, 1942 at Philadelphia, PA. Service Number 650 63 84. Robert was a member of the Commissioning crew January 23, 1943 He served honorably on the USS Sigsbee DD-502 two years and nine months. Robert Campbell Hopple, GM1c was transferred October 22, 1945 to RS NYD Philadelphia, PA for further transfer to Separation Center Bainbridge MD for discharge. Bob was a good friend and shipmate admired by all who knew him. Bob earned the following Campaign Ribbons and Battle stars during his service aboard the USS Sigsbee DD-502; Asiatic Pacicif 10 Stars - American Area - Victory Medal - Philippine Liberation 1 Star.
